JustLend DAO completed its fifth JST buyback and burn, removing 170.7 million tokens as the program prepares to enter a new phase.

JustLend DAO completed its fifth JST buyback and burn on October 16, 2026, removing 170,723,144 JST from circulation. The protocol valued the burned tokens at about $23.53 million at the time of execution. The event matters because it advances the DAO’s supply-reduction program while the project prepares to change how future buybacks and burns operate. What the fifth burn included

The official completion notice says the fifth round combined two funding sources: $9,280,216 in net income generated during the third quarter of 2026 and a $10,340,249 allocation from historical protocol revenue. Those funds supported the acquisition and destruction of 170.7 million JST.

The burn is verifiable on TRON, and the tokens were sent to an address from which they cannot be recovered. JustLend DAO reports that its five rounds have now removed 1,881,973,007 JST in total, equal to 19.01% of the token’s original supply. The percentage and dollar values are issuer figures and should be read in that context.

How the mechanism is funded

The program links token purchases to revenue generated by the lending protocol. In practice, that means the amount available for each round depends on protocol income, the allocation approved for the program and the market price paid for JST. A fixed dollar budget therefore does not translate into a fixed number of tokens burned.

Buybacks can reduce circulating supply, but they do not guarantee price appreciation. Demand, liquidity, market conditions, governance decisions and future emissions can all outweigh the effect of a burn.

What changes next

The DAO said the existing program is entering a new phase, but it has not yet published the updated mechanics. Important open questions include the cadence of future purchases, how revenue will be allocated, whether execution rules will change and what disclosures will accompany each round. Until those details are released, projections about the next burn remain speculative.

Market access and risk context

Verified OrangeX.com markets include JST spot trading and JST perpetual trading. Spot and perpetual products carry different risk profiles; derivatives add leverage, liquidation and funding-rate exposure. Market availability does not validate a price target or remove token-specific risks.

OrangeX.com Analysis

The confirmed result is a substantial, onchain reduction in JST supply funded by protocol income and a historical revenue allocation. The cumulative burn figure is meaningful for supply accounting, but its market impact depends on future demand and on the still-unpublished design of the next phase. The most useful signals will be transparent execution records, consistent revenue reporting and clear governance rules for future allocations.
