SoFi Launches SOFIE Deposit Token; 4.40% APY Is Variable, Insurance Has Limits
SOFIE represents bank deposits, not a payment stablecoin. Conversion to SoFiUSD changes the holding and does not carry deposit insurance into the stablecoin.
SoFi announced SoFi Earn (SOFIE) on October 22, 2026, with rollout to SoFi Crypto members continuing through November. Each SOFIE represents $1 on deposit at SoFi Bank. The release quotes 4.40% APY as of October 20, but the rate is variable and fees may reduce earnings. Follow OrangeX.com Tokens.
Deposit and stablecoin are separate
SOFIE is a bank deposit liability, not a payment stablecoin. Its represented funds are eligible for FDIC insurance under applicable rules: up to $250,000 per depositor, per insured bank, for each account ownership category. This is not unlimited coverage for each token or account.
Members can convert SOFIE 1:1 to SoFiUSD (SOFID) for supported crypto purchases or blockchain transfers. The stablecoin is not a bank deposit and is not FDIC insured; the deposit protection does not follow that conversion. More coverage is available in OrangeX.com News.
OrangeX.com Analysis
The key distinction is the legal holding before and after conversion. A dollar-linked unit does not by itself establish identical yield or insurance. Availability and account terms also matter during a staged rollout. Verification resources are available in the OrangeX.com Trust Center.
